What do meatless burgers and speed have in common?

If you are a fan of Formula 1 racing as I am, you know who Lewis Hamilton is. Well, The English race-car driver who also the highest-paid driver in the history of Formula 1 launched his brand of meatless burger in 2019. British race-car champion who is also vegan, said the following in an interview with BBC last year, “As someone who follows a plant-based diet, I believe we need a healthier high street option that tastes amazing but also offers something exciting to those who want to be meat-free now and again.”

Hamilton’s meatless burgers are sold under the name Neat Burger which is a neat name for a burger, I must say. Patties for the burgers are supplied by the Beyond Meat Co.

Considering that the number of vegans and vegetarians is on the rise in the UK according to The Vegan Society’s report. This addition to the UK’s already rich selection of Vegan options is a piece of great news. Hamilton plans to go global with his franchise and expand into the US market as well as Dubai. Neat Burger restaurants also have faux chicken patties options on their menu.

It is very common these days to have a celebrity either endorse a plant-based food product, enter a business partnership with the product manufacturer, or launch his or her own line of vegan edible products. In the States we’ve got quite a few of celebs being involved in plant-based food product promotion in one way or another and seeing a famous face promoting plant-based diet in Europe shouldn’t be a surprise at all.

Lewis Hamilton was under the spotlight recently because some of his followers on his social networks labeled him as “hypocrite” for being an advocate of veganism and environmentally friendly living while flying in a private jet and racing fuel powered race cars for a living.

Takeaway

Being the highest-paid F1 driver in history, Hamilton is probably not in this meatless business for the money. Meatless patties are as popular in Europe as they are in the States and I can’t wait for the Neat Burger joint to cross the pond so we can sample that tasty pseudo chicken sandwich.
