Starbucks™ is expanding its meatless options

Among all the major American-based chains in the modern world, few have grown quite as meteorically and universally as Starbucks™ has. Since it was started in Seattle, Washington in 1971, Starbucks™ has expanded to a massive global corporation that offers over 30,000 locations worldwide. First and foremost a coffee chain, the company managed to hook many customers with a wide variety of sweet coffee-based drinks to add to the basic options. What truly cemented the success of Starbucks™, however, is that they weren’t content to stop there.

Popularity of the brand

Much of the reason for the massive popularity that Starbucks™ has found as a company comes from their willingness to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to supplying its customers with what they want. Aside from its recognizable ambiance, Starbucks is now also known for its variety of edible products. Whereas other coffee chains might have been content to deliver basic coffee options, Starbucks has consistently sought to figure out what other offerings might give it that special edge. After coffee, they turned their sights to tea. This eventually led them to acquire the Teavana brand,™ which brought a brand of trusted tea options to all of their locations. They also branched into food, devising a variety of light breakfast and lunch options like sandwiches and pastries for hungry customers to pick up with their drink.

New Meatless Breakfast Sandwich

On June 24th of this year, another great products was introduced to Starbucks’ assortment of edible items.That special edge that Starbucks always seeks has come from the incorporation of new vegan food offerings. Many people enjoy starting their day with a sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, and the newest item on the Starbucks menu is a vegan alternative. The Impossible Breakfast Sandwich™ uses a plant-based sausage patty from the popular plant-based meat alternative company Impossible Foods™. With the recent rise of vegan meat options worldwide, Impossible has been one of the first to claim a major stake in the market, and it, like Starbucks, is a name that’s now widely known for quality and reliability. In China and Canada, Starbucks has partnered with Beyond Meat, a similarly popular choice.

Of course, Starbucks™ has always had some naturally vegan options on their menu, but the Impossible Breakfast Sandwich (and the Beyond Meat ™alternative in other markets) represents a new foray into offering specific plant-based meat alternatives to hungry customers. There’s no doubt that this new menu option will bring in vegan customers looking for a quick and solid food choice, and buying some coffee alongside it in turn. The Impossible Breakfast Sandwich may just be the very start of many more vegan options to come.
